For me, I wanted to leave my hometown and pursue a better life, get a decent job in a big city someday, and make a modest living. Plus, I had nothing else to do since my hometown, there was NOTHING there to keep me from leaving and jobs sucked.

Didn't want to work in a grocery store for the rest of my life lol.

I went to college because I love to learn. Now to be more specific, I went to college out of Alabama because I knew I didn't want to live in Alabama.

I went, went back actually, because my mother and aunt had and my grandfather had and I didn't want to be the only one who hadn't.

It was an automatic thing. Everyone in my family went to college. 95% of the kids from my high school went to college. It was just automatic. There was no question about whether to go or not.

It was the same as FarNorthDallas, in terms of it being an automatic thing. Also, I've been told "go to college, you'll get a better job" I'm almost done so I hope thats true.

Same as the first, no prospects in my small home town. Plus, I love school.

My parents talked about me going to college all through my childhood, and everyone in my family has been to college, so there wasn't much doubt that I would go too. But my parents also raised my to be independent and smart and I went because I wanted to learn more, to have a career, and to earn a decent income.

My parents are both highly educated (Dad is a doc, mom has a JD and MBA) and even though college was expected of me. I just went solely for self betterment. I want to go back for my Ph.D. eventually.
