Since the City is heavily invested in this area. I am trying to recall if there are any "tax incentives" attached to the Bull Street site that makes it more favorable to develop there? I think the next Mayor of Columbia is going to have to be the Ringmaster and try to herd Richland 1, 2 and the County together to discuss the tax rate.. The City is not solely responsible for it for sure.. but is going to have to take a leadership position to get it resolved... along with the Chamber and the Business community as one has to wonder if the overall rate was more competitive with some of the surrounding jurisdictions if that would change the landscape in the City/County
The tax incentive is city wide and runs through this year (maybe 2022.)
Hope it works, and I hope parking is near and quick. To have any chance of going at lunch time it has to be easy. It is too far from downtown to walk in time.

They'll have three parking garages within 100 yards of the food hall. The parking garages are for residents/employees and visitors. There's also parallel parking that stretches every street at Bull Street Commons with more to come as they fill out there infrastructure, so there's going to more than enough parking for this location.

I would agree and argue that the way the entire complex is being designed HOPEFULLY people would want to stroll to and from their destination given that it is essentially a planned community. Main St downtown is the only place people have, in my experience, been nervous about strolling and want to park right in front of their destination especially at night. But I believe even that is changing. I have seen more police and courtesy officers downtown so I believe that concern will lessen

You have to park in a parking garage around the block or park on the curb and then make your way to your destination which can be dangerous in some circumstances. I don't mind it but I can see the reason for caution. Also, main street is dimly lit. The street could benefit from better lighting or have LED displays/billboards that would bring the street to life, sort of like how the entertainment districts are in bigger cities.

For those of you who haven't been to Bull Street in a while, I thought I'd share some photos. I was shocked at the amount that's been done and the number of projects underway, even following it as closely as I do on here.
