Safe and affordable areas to live in ? (Columbia, Lexington: rental, mobile home)

Can anyone let me know which areas to live in that are safe and affordable? Husband and I have an 8 month old. We are looking to rent a house for up to $1000 a month. I appreciate any suggestions!

We need a little more to go on; what part of town do you work in and what amenities do you want close by?

Timing wise if you check Zillow you can get a lot more bang for your buck if you sign a lease this time of year on a rental house. Summer is most expensive

Thanks. Well my husband is working in Lexington/W columbia area. Just do not really want to be right in Columbia

Most areas in Metro Columbia are safe, and many areas are affordable. If you stick to the Lexington side, and stay away from rural mobile home parks, almost any place should meet your criteria. For your budget, expect a modest home and you'll be fine.
