I drove through the Bibb City area recently and was pleasantly surprised to see that the area is really picking up! Folks seem to be improving their properties, cleaning up the area, and starting some new small businesses. All good, and bodes well for the future of that area!

They indeed do sell bottles and kegs. I have some bottles in my refrigerator and they also list them on the website.

Again though like I said in the bit you quoted, since Cannon does not package its products to be distributed and sold outside of its 4 walls, that makes it technically and legally a brewpub.

Breweries package their products and distribute them to be sold outside of the premises of the brewery.

Brewery: packages and sells products outside of its walls. (Ex: Chattabrewchee, which just opened its Columbus brewery location earlier this month, you can buy their products on-site or at many other area stores which sell beer)

Brewpub: sells its products on premise only and sells food. (Ex: Cannon Brewpub, which currently* only sells its products on-site and you will not find them for sale anywhere else)

*I say currently because the newish Georgia beer laws allowed for brewpubs to transition to a distributing brewery, graying the prior distinction between brewpub and brewery in the state.

Beacon, up in Lagrange, is a traditional brewpub, but they also distribute off-site, making them a hybrid brewpub/brewery. Cannon could transition to something like that one day.

FWIW, Columbus' beer scene has greatly improved so much since February of last year, when the above quoted post was made.

Nonic is doing amazing collaborative beers (and in general all of the regional alcohol and independent "makers" are working together extremely well), Cannon has improved their consistency and quality a ton over the last 16 months, Chattabrewchee's Columbus location is kickass and doing well, there are rumors of Omaha Brewing opening a similar satellite location in town, and the possibility of a brewery with this thread's project.

City Mills is going to move slowly but it is going to happen, I don't expect to hear anything about it until 2020, but it's not going away.

Is this where Chase Homes is currently located? If so, there is a rezoning sign up there. Hopefully they tear all of that down, such an eyesore.

Yes, this is already up for rezoning. There aren't any rendering yet, but they're only going to be 7-8 buildings, and some 2nd Avenue frontage. This will help City Mills look a lot better

It's all gone and replace with the housing like the others in town - Columbus Commons, Ashley Station, Patriot Pointe, etc.

This one will be called Mill District something.

Columbus Housing Authority gets OK to tear down Chase Homes, replace it

Next phase of City Village is a go.

Quote:
The relocation process will start early next year. It could take until June to get residents into other suitable housing.

Once that happens, the project will take about two years, Williams told News 3.

...

What will replace the old public housing complex is a combination of low-income and market-rate housing.
