Anybody else notice the ridiculous number of people begging for money in the parking lots along Hilliard-Rome, especially at Meijer?

I shop at that Meijer frequently but I think I will stop going because I had two people yesterday that approached me and asked for money.

The first guy had four kids with him. The second guy said he had a car problem and said he would pay me back. Gave me his number and told me to meet him this morning. Of course, he didn't show. So I guess I'm the stupid one.

I had somebody last year that said they needed help with a Western Union. I turned them down.

Enough is enough. I don't mind helping people who really need it. But it's ridiculous to have this happen over and over.

My late grandfather used to own a tavern downtown. When I was a kid I would hang out there on Saturday afternoons sometimes and we'd walk through downtown running errands (this was back in the 1970's). He taught me early on that 95% of the beggars are regulars.

Look at it this way - there are plenty of food shelters, homeless shelters and social service agencies for people to get help. Why would they need to beg?

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, I've noticed the same thing lately, has happened like 4 times. One supposedly single father was trying to get like 3 of us that were filling up to pitch in cash so he could fill up get back to his kids in like London or something like that. Always at the Meijer gas station on Hiliard-Rome Rd.

I helped a Muslim dude on the east side in front of a Menards a few months ago. I never give money to beggars, but I figured since he was Muslim, his take would be down. So I gave him $5 and told him, I hope you're not scamming me because I NEVER give money to beggars.
