I just wanted to gauge what residents that would be a major reason to choose Columbus over the other two big C's in Ohio, Cleveland and Cincinnati?

Cincinnati...Great Wolf Lodge, Kings Island, professional sports, the #3 ranked Children's hospital. Columbus is full of nothing but places to shop and eat, and Cleveland is just downright miserable (the mistake by the lake as it's known).

Ignorance. The Cleveland Clinic is one of the top-ranked medical institutions in the world.

https://health.usnews.com/health-car...l-and-overview

Cleveland has better pro sports than Cincinnati (with an NBA team), let alone Columbus.

Cleveland's PlayhouseSquare is one of the nation's top theater districts. The Cleveland Museum of Art is the best in Ohio and one of the best in the U.S. The Cleveland Orchestra may be the best in the U.S. and certainly has the best facilities with Severance Hall and Blossom Music Center. Cincinnati would rank second in performing arts and certainly art museums.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park is half an hour from downtown Cleveland. Neither Columbus nor Cincinnati have a recreational asset that compares to Lake Erie.

Oh, yeah, Cedar Point, one hour from downtown Cleveland is the Roller Coaster Capital of the World.

I don't disagree with you on any of this, but Cleveland is still nonetheless not a pretty place. The winters are beyond harsh, and the overall social climate of the town I have found to be quite rude and uninviting. When it's cloudy and gray 9 months out of the year, who can blame them. Not saying anywhere in Ohio is aesthetically pretty or pleasing to the eye. Cincinnati certainly isn't, we just tell ourselves that to feel better...I believe they call that "rationalization? "The southern states and desert southwest have it all over the great lakes states in that regard. I understand why most of Ohio is losing population to southern states though.

For me it's the opposite . Hate the SW. You can keep the desert and the brown landscapes. Give me big trees, water or both.

Alright. I've spent significant amount of time in all three and currently live in Columbus.

Very quick breakdown:

Columbus - newest and cleanest of the 3. Very midwest feel compared to the others. Growing very fast. Expensive real estate. State capital. Can be a very "trendy" city (can be a positive or negative).

Cincinnati - Fairly southern feel to an Ohio city. Slower paced. Has the largest downtown area. Older city that's starting to experience some growth.

Cleveland - Rust belt city (Detroit, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, etc). Smallest feel of the three although it has the highest metro population. Has many large suburbs. Dirtier, industrial city. The lake and Playhouse Square (arts and theatre district) are great assets that you can't get in the other cities.

These are ordered in my opinion from best to worst to live. And with Columbus, if you're only 2 hours to either city if you want access to something that Columbus doesn't have.

Since this is an opinion thread, Id choose Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati in order.

I prefer Cleveland because of the Rust Belt feel, the neighborhoods, classical amenities like the Museum of Art etc. Columbus feels the most dynamic and happening, because of the economy and continual influx of new residents. Cincinnati has great architecture and is beautiful to look at (along with some great breweries), but I don't care for the Kentuckified atmosphere and the extremely conservative population outside the city limits.
