Questions to people with Section 8 (Columbus, Franklin: low income, private school, landlord)

Recently had application pulled for Section 8 Voucher through Columbus Metro Housing.

I needed a guideline from anyone who went through the process as to what to expect. I want to know:


How long your approval (or denial and subsequent appeal went if applicable)<


How you found housing <

Any obstacles in finding housing<

What your landlord needed from you<

Any classes or meetings that were held. <


This is a big opportunity and change for my child and I.

We reside in montgomery county right now in subpar housing and I've been on the waiting list since 2018 after living in my current run down apt since 2017.

My son is starting kindergarden so I'd also like to know about any Franklin county school systems that are better for him.

We are low income and I believe we may get a scholarship for a private school if the inner city schools are a failing district, but I'll have to do my own research.

I will update this thread as to my own experience for anyone who comes along and sees this thread in the future.
