Hello

I'm unclear. In a lot of the threads regarding crime, bad neighborhoods, etc...I see people write "East Hartford" or "West Hartford". Are they simply referring to the eastern and western half of the city of Hartford? If I'm not mistaken, there are actual independent towns of East Hartford and West Hartford, correct? They're not referring to the those places, are they?

Clarification would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

East and West Hartford are separate cities/towns altogether. West Hartford is nice for the most part.

Parts of north and west Hartford proper are the bad areas of the city.

East Hartford = Another town
West Hartford = Another town
East End = East side of Hartford
West End = West side of Hartford

South end, North end both in Hartford proper.

Just realize that Hartford is VERY small land mass wise, so West Hartford downtown for instance is about 2.5 miles from DT Hartford. So even though it's another town, it's really not a burb as you might find in other metros.

I think you mean parts of north and south Hartford proper.

The west end of Hartford is the nicest part. The central part of Hartford (Asylum Hill, Frog Hollow) can also be dicey, but the downtown (which would be the east part of Hartford I suppose) is safe.

I meant directly west of central and north of central Hartford, not necessarily West End.
