New Houston-based carrier, Avelo Airlines began flying earlier this year, mostly in the West Coast out of Burbank (near LA). They’re now getting ready to set up in New Haven as their next hub.

There’s also a multi million dollar terminal expansion and remodeling plan taking shape at the there to accommodate Avelo as well as other carriers.

At this point, this isn’t anything to brag about. I clinked on the link/flights; normally a flight from BDL to DC is about an hr. With the layover, the fastest flight here is showing 9 hrs. It’s not much better to other cities.

I actually thought they were a private plane only airport. Looks like they have Republic Airlines flights to PHL and you take it from there. But that's it.

Well yeah. The current schedule is nothing, that’s the point of expansion. Will have to see what they offer.

That’s right. New Haven will be their east coast hub with many flights being added once the expansion/renovation is completed. Jay

If, given East Haven residents' continued opposition to it. I really hope Avelo makes it though.

Avelo hasn’t announced their New Haven destinations and schedule yet. Right now only the reduced American Airlines schedule is posted, all connecting through Philly.

Yes, that’s what I thought. But when I saw this thread I thought the new routes were announced and that was the purpose of this thread.

Service has started from New Haven to Florida, curious to hear how it's doing.

I know two people who have taken the NH to Fort Lauderdale route and said it was smooth without any issues. The flight was only about 1/3 full and the airline was no frills, but who needs amenities for a 2 hour flight?
