I'm putting this here because it would be a consumer device and contain a lot of electronics, but if this thread should be moved elsewhere I'm open.

Labor saving devices like dishwashers, washing machines, and microwave ovens have made home life much easier, to the point that the job of homemaker can now be taken on as a "side hustle" after a full time job.

There is however one task which has not been automated: folding clothes. I think with the cheap vision systems and computer vision software available now, plus much improved robotic manipulation, this could be possible to build now.

I found a product called Foldimate (not going to link, not sure if that would be considered advertising) but the website seems defunct since 2019.

Thanks for the link, it led me to this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laundry-folding_machine

There appeared to be another, more ambitious Japanese company called Laundroid which also went bankrupt.
