We are originally from Corpus but moved away 15 years ago. We have 2 kids still at home and one identifies as non-binary and is going into their senior year of high school. Is there a school that is more accepting than others. We will be working one the south side of town. When we lived here last we lived in flour bluff.

Don’t go to calallen or tuloso midway. I’d talk to school counselor first.

Let's hope Four Bluff has learned from this 2012 incident.

I'd say CCISD. Scott Elliff who is the previous superintendent served as such for about a decade and was an out gay man the whole time. Dr. Wilson who oversees all the high schools for CCISD now is an out gay man as well. Wilson actually got hired away by GP before CCISD offered him a senior job and better pay over his principal job. He just won some sort of school leadership award as well.

While that's no guarantee of individual experience it does tell me that the board and senior leadership are not hostile to LGBTQ people in general. CCISD attendance zone is generally more liberal than Callallen/Bluff/Island as well. Based on answers to Republican Primary ballot questions even the Republican primary voters in CCISD attendance areas are more socially liberal than the outlying areas.

Might see if you can test them in for the IB program at Ray/Baker. It's hands down the best education in the area. Windsor Park the elementary for the IB program is typically the best or a top 5 rated elementary in the state.

I've always heard the downtown and North Beach area are LGBT friendly and actually know that but not sure which high school those residents attend.
