An Asian fraternity at the University of California, Irvine is in hot water for a homemade music video it posted on YouTube featuring one of the fraternity brothers in blackface impersonating Jay-Z.

The controversial scene, which takes places 55 seconds into the two-minute video to Justin Timberlake’s ‘Suit and Tie’ song featuring Jay-Z, has been called ‘reprehensible’ and ‘racially offensive’ by the university’s vice chancellor of student affairs, NBC Los Angeles reports.

Wow! I wonder if they'll suffer the same fate as former UCLA student Amanda Wallace.

Honestly, who cares?

It's kids being kids and they posted something on Youtube for their own enjoyment. People have to walk on eggshells anymore about everything or they will be called a racist or some other crap.

People imitate other races all the time. Example: White Girls. Would that be considered a racist movie? Probably not.

Edit: just saw that my example was also used in the comments in that article.

Well apparently many people do, as stories have been published on this matter. Furthermore, I'm troubled by your lack of consideration that minstrel shows are considered offensive to African-Americans.

Everything seems to be offensive or racist to African-Americans.

I think we've been through the history of blackface/minstrel shows - maybe tied to the raffi torres incident or maybe some other incident ...... can't remember

Definitely would be offensive if that was what they were doing

However, that practice has been by and large dead for decades .... these kids weren't going for that ..... if you want to call them out for typically d'bagish frat behavior, fine .... but I don't believe they were intending to be "in black face" or be racist

They were doing a mock music video and dressing up as the people in it

People get too up in arms about this stuff ..... give a history lesson and move on

Quick question - would wearing this be an example of blackface to anyone?
