What is it like to actually live in the city?

I don't live downtown Dayton, but there has been a lot of new housing added downtown in the past ten years and nearby neighborhoods like Oregon, South Park and St Anne's Hill have added a lot of new restaurants and breweries/distilleries. And central Dayton is no longer considered a food desert with the Gem City Market co-op opening next month:

That's great news about the market! Overall, is it safe? How about walkability?

There has always been a grocery store on 3rd street near the arcade, I have never had an issue being unsafe in downtown Dayton or anywhere else for that matter although I have not been in West Dayton very much and that area has the bad reputation. As far as walkability it depends on what you consider walking distance, I have no trouble going from anywhere in downtown Dayton to anywhere else in downtown Dayton, including the Sinclair lot at 6th and Perry to the Dragons stadium.

I have a lot of pics of downtown posted in the Dayton photo thread but they are hosted on photobucket and I am having major trouble with my account.
