Does Sensodyne really work for root canals? Those are the ones I'm having sensitivity problems with. Both are crowned. If so, it will definitely save me a lot of headaches
But if I understand it correctly, Sensodyne works by coating the natural tooth material and desensitizing the nerve embedded under natural tooth material. If those teeth no longer have a nerve and are crowned (all the natural tooth material is covered or gone), what's there for it work on? Guess you'll have to try it and see.
does it help the gums? it may be that my root canal crowns are making my gums sensitive around the area of the tooth. That may be the case for one of them but I think the other is fractured past the gumline.

I posted this earlier - "Sensodyne really does work. I use the one called Pronamel Daily Protection... it has a green cap.
And always use a SOFT toothbrush."
It's not going to fix a root canal problem if it's way in your roots/gums, but Sensodyne in general really helps all the teeth with any kind of sensitivity or small pains. I have used it for decades, and it has made a world of difference in not having any sensitivity to cold food or drinks any longer. That toothpaste is amazing. Have to use it consistently, though.
I’ve been having a dull ache in my root canal/jaw for about a month now but there’s no sign of infection in the x Ray. I’ve had this root canal for two years now and when I tap on it it feels a little sensitive but I’m not sensitive to hot or cold sensations. My dentist says it could be a fracture not shown on the X-ray. So I left it to see and now I’ve developed weird shorting crawling burning sensations in my head about two weeks later. When I lay down it’s a million times worse. Like my whole head and neck have a phantom pain if I can even call that. PAIN MEDS DONT WORK. I’m wondering if this is my root canal Because I do have really really dull jaw pain. Have you guys ever had weird symptoms? It’s been a month and half now and it’s not going away. It feels like I have physical anxiety symptoms. I feel nervous for no reason. My toothache didn’t go into full blown throbbing can't eat. There is a dull ache when I eat on it but again dentist says no infection there. It’s just dull pain in jaw and gums around that tooth. Now my neck is really hurting. What do I do?
Mine turned out to be a sinus infection, which was easily handled with antibiotics. A close examination with a specialized Xray device showed that I have a tooth root protruding into the sinus cavity. I believe I am right when I say this applied to upper teeth, but not lower teeth.
Amoxicillin was prescribed. Had immediate effect, but took a few days to completely clear up.
I forgot to mention my dentist prescribed me clindamycin because I did have some swelling in my jaw. Didn't know where it came from said it could be from the gums getting irritated or fracture. Headaches did improve a little bit during the course of antibiotics but immediately came back about 7 days off antibiotics. That's why I'm suspecting something wrong with my root canal. But I'm going to bring up the possibility of sinus infection to my GP because I don't think a tooth could be the only problem here. I've had my fair share pf toothaches and never has this happened with my head.

I'm going to buy some of this to compare it with what was prescribed for me in Mexico. I haven't been to an American Dentist in 27 years. In Mexico, I assume it's the same, under a different name, Bexident, and it's quite magical!

Might compare the active ingredients by percentage...they may be functionally the same. Good luck!
I always say to see an endo for root canals. My dentist won't even do them - he always refers you to a specialist.
Any pain when you bite down? darkening of the tooth? lump on gums? It could be infected, which is why antibiotics help temporarily. 100% have the endo check it out. I hope you get it resolved and feeling better!

I actually went to another dentist to get a second opinion and I really liked this dentist(they were all literally awesome there! never have I been treated like that in a dentist's office before I felt special and was kinda surprised because is that how they're supposed to treat you or...?). He explained all of the possibilities of what could be wrong. First, he mentioned that if it is a fracture it didn't show up on x-ray because it may be too small. He does see a little darkening of the gums under the tooth that shows inflammation. He put in a request for a re-root canal to go in there and clean it up and see if that will help. If not he said he could always just take it out and put an implant(probably). I was very satisfied. Hopefull to see some different results this time.
