hello,

i am scheduled to have my braces off on the 10th, and my retainers fitted on the 14th. i am worried my teeth will move in that space of time and the pasted 1.2 years of braces would have been wasted. if not will they move slightly? does it very between different people?

please help asap

The quickest answer you can get is from your orthodontist's office! Hurry! Call!

Two of my children just got their braces off recently. The day the braces came off they went home with retainers. Molds had been taken 2 weeks prior.

So, like the pp, I agree...call your orthodontist in the morning.

Your teeth move all the time. Don't worry about it.

While I'm not a believer in shoulds and shouldn'ts, I'll go out on a limb and suggest that you should not worry. Worry is a waste of time and energy.

Since you have no control over some of the things that transpire in your life, why worry about those things ... they will happen anyway ... no matter how much you worry.

Since you do have control over some things that happen in your life, why worry about those things .... you're in control.

Put into this context, that leaves absolutely NOTHING to worry about!

Eh. If you hadn't had tissue and bone modification during the period with braces, it might be a problem. Four days without braces will have about the effect of four days with, and the bulk of the change will be the first day. Don't sweat it.

The amount of movement will be negligable. The retainer may feel a little "tight" for the first few hours, but your teeth are not going to shift back into their original position from a year or 2 ago. It's really not a big deal.
