I've read other threads about site seeing, 16th Street Mall, Brown Palace, etc. all good and very exciting.

I'll be in Aurora for one day and am looking for your favorite:

1- Shop for local organic raw honey?
2- Any tea store?
3- Any locally owned store?
4- Your favorite breakfast place (vegetarian friendly)?
5- Where can I go hiking with a great view?

Things can be slow on weekend. Maybe more answers tomorrow?

Don't know if you are planning to go to Boulder but if you do this is a good stop for tea.

2 suggested hikes are the top of Mount Falcon - drive to the west side/top entrance unless you really are in shape. There are good easy hikes with great scenery around the top.

Red Rocks Amphitheater is fantastic to see. You can hike there on non-show days.

Does that mean that you'll be in the Denver area for just one day? (Aurora is a suburb). You listed a lot of things to do, so I'm wondering what your trip looks like.

I'll second this. If you're only in Denver for the day it's going to be difficult to do all the things you want to do.

Personally, I'd skip the 16th Street Mall. It's gotten really grungy over the last decade or so.

Sam's No. 3 makes good breakfast. They might have some vegetarian options. You'll have to check.

Not sure about the tea or the honey.

Hiking - when are you coming? Aurora is the farthest east suburb in Denver, and most of the city is pancake flat. The foothills are a good 30-45 minutes from Aurora depending on where you are.

Foothills trails could be totally dry or they could be snowy, icy, and/or muddy between now and mid -May.

Mount Falcon is a good suggestion - especially if you start on the west side. You can do a quick 2-3 mile loop and see the Eagle's Eye Shelter, the summit tower, and the castle ruins.

Castlewood Canyon State Park is only 30-40 minutes from Aurora. It has good hiking with distant views of the mountains. You can hike along Cherry Creek and see the ruins of the Castlewood Dam and a waterfall.
