Pork tenderloins can be found throughout a lot of the midwest, especially Illinois and Indiana. Are ours better? Probably, but I'm biased so take it for what it's worth. The Maid-Rite, however, is particularly Iowan.

When I read the question that OP stated...figured it was some kind of steak. I would agree that pork is the king of Iowa.

Since the question was asking about Des Moines and not Iowa per sey, I'd say your original inclination was more correct as Steak Deburgo is uniquely Des Moines.
