What do you guys think about this?

On some other forums, there is an "official" thread just for chatty stuff. Off topic. Just random talk. I know this board isn't super busy, but I was thinking that with a chat thread, it might be a way for regualrs to get to know each other and talk about things that are necessarily Des Moines specific.

We are allowed 2 stickies per thread, and we aren't using any of them. If this is a good idea to you guys, I could make this a sticky and we could all chat away.

Thoughts?

Sure! As long as it doesn't disintegrate into endless arguments about some of the trivial issues that have derailed other threads, and I won't get specific, lest those sleeping dogs wake up.

It could be tried and if it doesn't work, unstick it.

I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer, but I'm not looking for addl reasons to spend more time onlline. I'll probably tend to sit this particular thread out but hope others enjoy it.

Enjoy Donnie Baker ElleTea!

I'm still playing catch-up with getting my lawn and flower beds ready for winter, so I'll be mowing, spreading mulch, painting (touch up), and chores of that nature. I'll rent something from Family Video for Saturday night.

Maybe next weekend I'll have time to go biking. If I do, I'll post some photos of the trail.

Hello folks up there!
I thought that you might like to know that I just checked in at weather.com & currently it is 12 degrees warmer in Des Moines than down here at the Atlanta airport & you are currently 1 degree cooler than what they have down on The Gulf at Panama City Beach, Fl! LOL! That was a strong cold front that moved into the southeast.
I am 25 miles below the city center & when I looked outside earlier when I got up, there was light frost to be seen on the car windshields as well as on the rooftops so it's a good thing I moved in the plants over the last couple of days & took lots of cuttings from the huge coleus plants out front.

That's amazing to me, Atler8. I always think of Atlanta as "Hotlanta" and obviously it isn't.

Glad you saved the plants.

It was a brisk windy day here today. Amazing it is so much colder there!

Probably too cold for you, ElleTea, but it was 72 in the sun and the winds did die down from about 1 - 3. I know because I did exterior touch-up painting and checked since it's later in the season than I normally do such work. Usually about Oct. 10 is the last day I can paint before the rainy season.

I also planted some spring bulbs today and put some mothballs in with them to keep them from becoming squirrel food. That worked in Ohio, anyway.

I'm sort of surprised at how many leaves are still on the trees and the lack of fall colors. Is everything behind due to the late hot spell? Wouldn't the leaves normally be at least half down now? I'm not complaining! It just seems odd.
