Hello community,

Because of job change to Sterling Heights, I am planning to move from Canton, MI to Madison Heights, MI.

I saw a house in Madison Heights near John R and 13 mile. I would like to know from community members as to what you think of that area and specially Lamphere School District.

I dont have any kids as of now but planning to have soon. I have had mixed reviews about Lamphere School District so please let me know what are your thoughts.

Also, safety wise is it a good idea to raise family in Madison Heights? I like the fact that almost everything is under 10-15mins of driving distance but not sure about the crime and other issues.

Thanks in advance and looking forward to see your thoughts.

Decent area, like said proximity to everything and central location is a good reason to look at MH.
Madison Heights has been up and coming a bit and seen a bit as a more affordable option than Royal Oak which is directly to the east.

Crime is a non-factor similar to the rest of suburban Metro Detroit.

I can't speak for the schools but likely on par with other comparable districts in the immediate areas.
Schools would be perfectly fine for anyone who has parents and family that support education and learning in the home.
(now more important than ever with schools closed)

Canton is more upper crust than Madison Heights which to me is working class to solidly middle class.

If you plan to have children I would recommend considering other nearby cities. Troy has good schools, diversity, and nice homes. The side east of Rochester Road is cheaper than the west side closer to Woodward Corridor.
