Also, if you can recommend any motels/hotels that are clean and with cheap rates that would be great.

Do you want to stay in the city?

If you stay a few miles out, there are tons of cheap chains all over. They are just your typical cheap chain motels, many are really close to the freeway though so it can be loud. I woudl look downriver for the closest to the city but still reasonably clean and safe. Stay away from Inkster, Redford, Southfield,

There is a really cool B & B in midtown. It is not real cheap though. https://innonferrystreetdetroit.com/...hoCrCoQAvD_BwE That is what I recommend for friends who want to visit the city for pleasure. I want to take a getaway weekend hear one day.

Right downtown the shineola hotel is in a really cool building. Pretty pricey though. I have not been inside the rooms. Heard it is really nice.

Detroit Club is a neat recently renovated old private club. The building is awesome as well.

When we put up business clients or consultants we use the Book Cadillac most of the time. Mostly because it is 150 feet from our office. Marriott Courtyard is OK too. The Marriott in the Ren Can is also fine and has awesome views from some rooms. If you have an inside room, just close the curtains. The people in the offices can see everything you do. I used to work on the 34th floor of the ren cen tower 400 and my office window faced the hotel, I saw some pretty awful things. Double-tree in the Fort Shelby hotel is also suitable. They had some issues early on, so if you look at reviews, look at the dates. The fixed the issues and it is nice now.

THere are a lot os new small hotels popping up all over. If you stay in the Downtown, midtown, corktown or Eastern market/indian villiage areas, you should be OK. Anything under $200 that is in the City is suspect. Cheapest without getting icky is probably the comfort inn. It is not a beautiful place, and sometimes people complain other times they say it is fine.

There are also hotels at the three casinos. The casino hotels are niceish. Typical casino hotels. Personally I hate casino hotels. Some people like them though.

There is one on or near atwater street that is awful. I cannot find it on the map so maybe it went out of business. They change their name a lot due to bad reviews. Crest Hotel is also awful. Avoid.

I am from the Detroit area, and spent lots of time in Detroit. I can’t find 12th street. Did you mean Rosa Parks blvd, or is there a hidden 12th street somewhere?

The City of Detroit renamed 12th Street to Rosa Parks Boulevard in 1976.
