Which brand of Alpha Lipoic Acid would you recommend? So many to choose from on Amazon. Thanks for this suggestion. How about this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...P74OO8OM&psc=1

He eats lots of our home grown blueberries and raspberries plus tomatoes.

Thanks for posting this topic. I was unaware of laser treatment. He may have to find out if there is a practitioner in town. Does it really help?
I read the ingredients on the product you posted. It has other vitamins which may be good for other things but in the case of Alpha Lipoic Acid, it's only 450mg. It's not enough, at least not for severe cases.

I would get something with just the ALA, you can take the vitamins separately. The ones I buy are not from Amazon. That's not to say you can't find something good on Amazon. They should be yellow, no other color. The R-ALA variation is supposed to be superior. I've never tried it. The regular has always worked for me. It should also contain Biotin. That seems to help a lot with absorption. I didn't know till I looked it up, the Biotin is actually vitamin B7. Do NOT buy the Nutricost brand from Amazon. That's the one that stopped working for me because they seemed to have changed the formula. You're better off getting it from Walmart.

This is what I've been buying for years because I trust the quality, it has never failed me. Different sizes on this page. You will see the R-ALA listed there as well. It is not expensive even if you add the shipping which is a flat rate, around $4. You can compare to Amazon.
https://www.pipingrock.com/alpha-lipoic-acid

Dosage: I would start higher at first, maybe 1200mg or two 600mg capsules per day. After a couple of weeks, 600mg a day. This depends on the severity of your condition.

Edit: So I went back to the Amazon page you posted. WAY overpriced for what it is. It just doesn't cost that much for vitamins and supplements, regardless of the hype they post.

I KNOW it works, I don't need to read it. Over the years I've taken different brands. One of them was from Amazon and I had ordered it several times. Well, a few months back, my foot pain started coming back. My first thought, I am getting worse, my condition is progressing. I did not suspect anything but I found some leftover capsules from another brand, I tried one and felt relief right away. So I looked at the ones from Amazon and noticed they were off white in color. They are supposed to be yellow. A-ha, the formula changed or something because it stopped working. Never again. I will order the brand I have always taken.
Mine arrives tomorrow from Amazon ..

Yes it’s expensive from Amazon but I’m unable to find it any other place so far , I ordered it from Amazon anyhow but I’ll still keep looking for a better price , I just wanted to get started on it , would be much easier and cheaper if it was a prescription med .

??? on the bolded. It's everywhere, online and in person. Even Walmart, Target, grocery stores and countless other places online. I even posted a link to where I buy it. It's in what you quoted.

Here's more.

LOL. I have a niece working in this field for a well known govt agency. She is a researcher and is lead in her field/office. She laughed at this comment but said it is a common feeling amongst many. She compared it to the anti-Covid vaccine crowd. But she said the research, as long as it is an independent study, is reliable and if people choose not to believe it then that is on them.

LOL is right. This changes everything. Now I'm supposed to believe your niece? Sure..

The government IS one of the problems in this case, so are the corrupt and greedy medical/pharma and insurance industries in this country who are in bed with the government. Prescription drug prices ring a bell?

Pharmaceutical lobbies anyone? It should be called what it actually is, bribes.

Here's a little food for thought.

And by the way, I am fully vaccinated and I would get the booster if necessary.

I have a little numbness but that's all so far, and I'm doing my best to avoid sugar and carbs in my diet, on Metformin, and last check at AIC 6.7, but have you others had issues with diarrhea from the Metformin? My doctor warned of it and said that it might help to take it with a meal. That didn't work, I would get one normal in the morning then an hour or so later the diarrhea. One day last week I neglected to take a pill when we went out to dinner so I took it on an empty stomach at 8pm, and the next day happily was normal. So, I have continued to take it at 8pm well after dinner since and no more diarrhea.

Good to hear on the vaccination. But I was addressing this mostly. I know there are issues at times in the pharma industry but the old "sky is falling" rhetoric gets old. Making such blanket statements is uncalled for and makes one sound like a conspiracy theorist spouting fool.
