I've T2D and once in awhile , if I don't eat on the clock , I crash with BS that drops like a rock offa cliff!! Get light headed , vision starts to go, and I feel very unsteady until I shovel (yes, shovel it in!) some food in so I can revive myself. Often the attacks happen so quick that I'm not in a place to get food. If I'm driving it's a real challenge even after I gobble down a glucose table or two. My meds help but they don't stop these attacks at all.........
Can anyone suggest a food bar that packs a real energy punch that is T2D friendly?

I had this problem and between my doctor and I we decided that a snack was in order. On schedule. Regardless. So I started carrying a pack of 4 PB crackers. I pick them up at K-Mart or Wal-Mart by a big box. I carry and eat one pack of 4 at 10am. I also carry and eat a pack at 2:30. And I eat a veg snack at 8 in the evening.
I would eat a healthy breakfast and with typical "Highs and Lows" caused by my insulin, I would take a dive at about 11 or so. By eating this pack of crackers at 10, I found it would carry me through til lunch even if it was going to be a late lunch. Also, by routinely eating these snacks, my doctor and I were able to adjust my insulin. Haven't had a problem for a long time now.
I carry the peanut butter crackers, too. I have them stashed everywhere, including the glove compartment and my purse. They help a lot. I'm not on a regular schedule with them. I just have them in case I need them. My friends also know where I have them stashed because sometimes they recognize the symptoms before I do.

Since I like PB but I don't like the cheesy crackers I went looking for a form of PB that comes in single serve packs I can stash in the vehicles and such.
And I hit a bonanza!!
This company sells flavored single serve packets of PB both plain and flavored.

You need to chow down 4 glucose tabs to boost you to feel comfortable but then get some peanut butter into yourself!! I have mini jars of peanutbutter in each vehicle, in a bag I carry, etc...

Thanks but no. Glucose tabs help but more than one make me dizzy. PB is the only food that will snap me outta a crash pronto!!
Frosting will raise it, if you accidentally give yourself 80 units of regular insulin instead of lantus.
Been there, done that more than once! I don't always pay as much attention as I should. It's good to know I am not the only one.
I buy a bag of mini chocolate bars (love Heath toffee) and keep 4 of them stashed in my purse and car (except in the summer, none in car). I also keep the big bag on top of the frig. That will pull me up when I get too low.
If I'm awake, I get real irritable, then have a funny feeling when breathing, my arms feel like the skin is crawling. If I'm asleep, I wake with a yeallow haze in my vision (means I am at or below 70) and shakiness.
