BAM 531 - do I smell a wedding being moved up? Or moved back?!?! Good luck!

Anyway - my dad has been a diabetic for quite a while. When he visited me in 2002, his BG was 450 (or so). He did nothing about it. In the spring of 2005, he had a stroke (his BP was also well over 200 over ??). Because of the stroke, mom took complete control over his diet. He has lost 70 lbs, and his glucose is b/w 80-120...and he has NEVER had a shot of insulin, unless the hospital gave it while there.

I certainly don't recommend her method (no insulin)...she did it because she believes only in holistic/eastern medicine. But, it does show you when you are on a good diet, and down to your ideal weight, that you can regulate without insulin injections.

I would bet (ask the dr!!) that south beach diet would be a good place to read up on stuff....helps a lot with good carbs vs. bad carbs.
