Hi everyone, You might know me form Mollys story, she was my 17 year old golden that i was forced to put to sleep june 5th from having kidney failure and heart issue.
Well now last month i adopted a 3 year old golden, and she is great her name is Tasha,. shes my new baby...
But ive learned 3 days ago she has cancer in her right leg,vet wants $800 to do the serg to help her be ok..... i am about $200 shy form being able to afford it, and i have no other way to come upw ith the $200 so soon, im so hurt that this has happened, maybe its a sign that i need to not have dogs anymore i dont know... Definitely contact the rescue, they s/b able to give you the name of vets they use who discount - possibly under the circumstances they'd waive some of the adoption fee under the circumstances. The other suggestions were good too, your own vet may work w/ you, knowing you've prob. spent a good chunk of $$ lately on vet care for your previous golden. Best of luck.
You need to discuss this with your vet. I am sure he/she will work out some type of a payment plan especially if you have almost all the money. Good luck and keep us informed.

When we took our feline, Ruthie, to the vet, I straight out told him what we had on hand (maybe should have told him less cuz it was all my daughter's & my emergency cash on hand) & that if the bill was more, I was willing to make payments. I didn't want it on my credit card cuz I'm not working & I need the tiny credit reserve I have.
In the end, many things were not billed for, surgery revealed an irreversible problem, Ruthie had to be put down - we were with her - and the bill just went a tiny bit over what I told him I could pay (the bill was still below the original estimate that included surgery etc), but we covered it with some back up from Mr. Boyfriend.
Moral of the story: be straight & offer to make payments.

I am sorry you lost Ruthie, but glad you stayed with her. I went with my daughter when she had Cloudy put down and yet, never have I had the guts to go when one on my own has said good bye to us.
