My buddy just bought a plug in hybrid Grand Cherokee. It gets about 20 miles on a charge and runs through the battery before it kicks on the gas motor. It plugs into the 110 and charges over night. He told me today that given his driving habits, he’s only filled up the tank twice since early September. He was skeptical of the battery when he bought it and didn’t think it would be very useful. He’s on love with it now. PHEVs are a great option.

Retiring soon is one reason I don't need an EV, currently even the gas for my F150 5.0 V8 is minimal since I only go into the office 2 days a week. If I was looking at a 5 day commute for a number of years, I would consider adding an EV to my other 3 vehicles just to save the cost of commute gas. I wouldn't replace any of them, though, each of them has a specific purpose that cannot be accommodated with any EV available today.

Same for me (twice retired, and once for my wife). We don't need any type of new vehicles other than toys like travel trailers, boats, ATV or UTV's, and things like that. We can drive far if we want, specially during the summer, but we drive just a few miles per month, plus we buy fuel that is discounted by $1,00 per gallon x 35 total gallons. Fuel is expensive in Alaska, but this week it has been around $3.62 per gallon, which makes it to $2.62 per gallon up to 35 gallons. I will buy gasoline for our vehicles in a day or two, but since the tanks are mostly full I will top-off the trucks tank, and bring home around 40 gallons to store in one of our sheds.

No EV's of any kind for us because it is too darn cold over here, and the 2-car garage is full of smaller toys (we park the trucks and cars outdoors). We do have portable power tools (drills, drivers, and so on) that are battery operated. But not chainsaws, trimmers, and lawn care (tractor and push mower). The ICE Stihl chainsaws and trimmers are nothing but amazing
