Rivian Makes its 100,000th Vehicle (SUV, engine, costs, Mazda)

Rivian celebrated the 100,000th vehicle rolling of its production line.

Their Normal, IL plant is about to undergo substantial revisions to reduce production costs and increase production rates. While Rivian still faces challenges, their business is much healthier than e.g. Fisker or Lucid, or the EV businesses of Mazda, Toyota and Subaru, for that matter. Rooting for these guys to make it.

Rivian does some very impressive engineering. While their quad motor system is very impressive as a whole system, the motors themselves were sourced from Bosch. When they went to develop the dual motor variant, they also designed their own motors, which are nicer than the Bosch motors.
