Very interesting - thanks for sharing.... that's a lot of models! I expected them to be cheaper though?
The lowest-end models are cheap enough to attract interest. Why would BYD want to go cheaper and leave money on the table?
Does anyone know if a BYD car purchased in Canada can be brought into the US and registered here? Could this be a backdoor BYD can exploit to get their cars into the US market?
BYD has not announced official entry of it's cars into the Canadian market. No vehicle can be sold in Canada without meeting the crash test regulations of Transport Canada and they follow and accept US crash test standards. BYD has not yet submitted crash test reports that would allow for normal importation.
According to my contact at Tesla, the BYD's E6 is currently in Canada undergoing safety testing and evaluation. IF and when approved, it's likely will be used in a fleet service like small deliveries, government use, livery operations, etc. It's still a year or so away before it may become available in Canada.

That's what I thought but I don't know anything about how Canada works there. Certainly in the US they would not be able to be registered or drive on public roads. In which case what's the point? There's a small market for track cars, farm vehicles, ATVs and whatnot but these are not that. Maybe some rich Chinese people in Canada want to collect BYD vehicles in their museum?
