Okay, so I figured I'd relate an entertainment thread with the purpose of City Data. What city do you think the SAW series takes place in?

They never specifically state where it takes place, so I'd like to hear your opinions.

I would guess Detroit or Chicago. The series gives me a very Rust Belt feel to it.

And for all you anti horror movie people here, stay away! And I mean it!

It's NYC. In Saw 5 when Cowan was putting a trace on Special Agent Strohm's phone, it showed her typing in the number on her computer. The area code was 212 which is Manhattan!

That's too bad. It would be nice if there were some strong regional accents to go along with that location.

Because of the lack of accents, I figured it wasn't your NYC/NJ, Boston, etc. I was thinking Chicago, Philly, or Detroit.

I always felt it was very Detroit-ish.

It's in New York. Though there are no accents there is one dead give away. If you refer back to saw 2 and freeze frame about twenty minutes into it where you can see Conny and Det. Mathews police shields then google images for all the major cities PD Badges you will see that the NYPD Detectives shield is the only one it could possibly be. Hope this was of some help
