One thing I'm not clear one. In terms of mileage, how far is the yukon River from Fairbanks city limits?? And BOTH routes there turn into gravel??? (I doubt my rental car will be allowed to travel on that, so there goes THAT idea.
)
What about those trails on UAF campus?? Safe? worth it? BEARS????

just over an hour unless you stop for photos.
56 miles plus about 5 to the trunoff to Chena Hot Springs rd.

Trails should be fine, it worried carry a can of spray. Bears should not be a problem now. No reported sightings since spring.
