Hello there! My husband and I are considering moving to the Bentonville area in the summmer. The cost of living and the lifestyle seems very appealing. However, we currently live in Ct and receive amazing autism programs in our public elementary school for our son. Having the appropriate services for him comes first before anything. So I’m hoping someone here can shed some light about the public schools and special needs services. I been doing some research online and found an article about one bentonville school that was sued in 2014 for misplacement if an autistic child. Also wondering about that whole situation and what if any changes have been made after that lawsuit.

If you care more about that than anything else, I'd consider making a trip with your child to meet the potential instructors before moving, as a last-thing confirmation tool once you decide on where you're relocating.

Though I can not advise you as I have no experience with special needs children, I can say I wouldn't let one law suit that may or may not have been legit influence my decision. I would take time to research the facilities available for your child and Yes, make a visit before accepting the job, even if it is only for a few days. Bentonville, as well as Rogers and Fayetteville have some outstanding schools.
