They start getting cheaper after the third time you replace them post storm damage.

You could spend 20K or you could spend 50K!

Size matters! Do you have a footer already or do you need to build one? Do you have a 2 story house and want the cage to go all the way to the top?

Also consider they might not be insured under your windstorm policy anymore. Some companies are excluding them

Prices of pool cages, like everything else, are going up. You're more likely to see $40,000 - $60,000 for an "average" pool cage, that is if you can get a pool cage company to put you on their list. Most have been very busy post hurricane Ian.

City Guy is correct, it's getting harder to find insurance companies that will cover screen enclosures. And if they do, there are certain guidelines and restrictions they follow.

A pool or patio cage constructed of an all aluminum panel roof that has been added on to the home with aluminum beams and screen material or one that is built of all aluminum supports are usually not covered in homeowners policies. It's also important to note that when homeowner insurance companies do cover a pool cage, they usually only offer coverage for the actual cage or aluminum framework itself, not the screen material of the cage.

Personally, I would want to know if I can get insurance coverage for my new pool cage before spending the money to have a new one built.

You're probably better off investing in a decent automated pool cover system for around 10K-15K (depending upon size). The cover protects from leaves and debris blowing in and helps maintain temperature. https://www.autopoolreel.com/

A pool cover won't deter bugs while people use the pool, which I'd suspect is one of the primary reasons people want cages!

I always thought it was more about leaves/debris but perhaps not. I don't think bugs are a huge concern with chlorinated water either.

I don't think they're worried so much about bugs doing the backstroke, but more about the nuisance factor of being buzzed.

I agree, no fun and from that respect I can't imagine not having a pool cage in FL for that very reason.
