Now, I know that University of Colorado is much ritzier than University of Northern Colorado. But this also goes for the cities of Fort Collins and Greeley. Fort Collins seems to much safer than Greeley in terms of crime. However, I am not saying crime is not present in Fort Collins, I know better. However, where UNC is located in Greeley: 11th Avenue/20th Street/17th Avenue/Reservoir Road is pretty much the higher crime area in Greeley, whereas in Fort Collins the area seems to be much safer. I have personally walked by UNC on 11th Avenue before and it is not an area I'd walk alone at night. Anyways, which of these universities do you prefer?

Sacrilege! Colorado State is in Fort Collins. That "other school" is in Boulder.

The words "ritzy" or "ritzier" seem impossible to use with CSU and/or Fort Collins. And why isn't the school identified by it's correct name (Colorado State University)?

Maybe not ritzy, but Fort Collins is definitely way more happening than Greeley.

Maybe within northern Colorado, but if you compared both universities to those around the country, they would be considered quite similar.

quite different universities / academics / majors.... beside different towns. (presuming the OP means CSU, not CU (Is there a new branch campus of CU in FoCo?)

+1

UNC is a smallish liberal arts-focused school with an enrollment of roughly 12,000 and an endowment of about $60 million. They're largely known as a teacher's school.

CSU, OTOH, is the largest (by enrollment) university in the state - 32,000 students. CSU's one of the largest research universities without a med school in the country. The vet school is one of the best in the nation, and the graduate program in occupational therapy is tops in the US. CSU's endowment is approximately $284 million.

Vastly different schools.

No, CU doesn't have a campus in Fort Collins, but they did take over Poudre Valley Health System.

If you dont even know the name of the school you are considering, maybe college isn't for you?

I realized University of Colorado is in Boulder and Colorado State University is in Fort Collins. People in my area commonly make this mistake.

That's OK. To confuse it more, University of Colorado is often referred to as "CU." Colorado State University is "CSU." Easy to mix up. What's more, both schools have lousy football teams (most of the time)! But then, who cares about football when Steamboat Springs and Winter Park are just a shout away.
