I'm heading down for some training in a couple weeks to Pompano Beach. I'm trying to find an affordable and safe location. I'm looking at hotels, but don't want to spend $100 a night. Can anyone suggest a small local hotel- near the beach maybe? Or maybe in Deerfield Beach?

Thanks!!!!

If you want to be in a decent area, you're going to pay, especially now that the "season" is starting. Try looking for a "monthly" efficiency rental.

There are some decent privately owned hotels on the beach in Pompano Beach. I cannot recall exact names, but maybe someone else knows. I'm talking the area within a few blocks of A1A and Atlantic Blvd.

Thanks! I've been looking on trip-advisor for reviews on some of the smaller hotels near the beach, but I dont know how safe they are. I like the idea of a small family run place, but may have to go with a bigger chain.

They are perfectly "safe". Anywhere along the beach is safe. There is an abundance of small privately owned motels on Pompano Beach along A1A compared to most areas. This is due to the high volume of tourists. If you prefer to stick with chains, and don't want to pay the high prices of being right on the beach, look further west along I-95. There is a cluster of chain hotels at 95 and Cypress Creek Road. You could also look at the area on A1A and 14th Street Causeway, right on the ocean.

I work at Cypress Creek and I-95. It is a nice area during the day, decent in the evening, if you stick to the main big plazas. I have never spent a night there though, so can't comment. Overall it is a big business park area with companies like Citrix, MetLife, TDBank...
