The canals are all named just like streets. I've only found the names in two places. My Garmin with Blue Maps loaded on it and the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce. There is a fantastic city map that they sell for about $3.00. Call and see if they will send you one. It even has all of the bridge locations and heights on it.

Is it good or bad to be living near so many canals? What are the pros and cons?

Love living around the canals.Even if you're not a boater,it's just nice being close to the water. Also, many streets on canals end with a cul-de-sac,as ours does and it keeps traffic off your street.
Only vehicles on our street are residents of people there for a reason and anything that looks suspicious would be noticed right away.

I honestly can't think of any cons. I suppose if you have kids it could pose a drowning hazard, but so can a pool. Areas with freshwater canals do have far more mosquitoes than saltwater, maybe that's a con for freshwater canals? I got nothin!

Dogs too. Mine fell in the canal once. Luckily my wife was right there to pull her out.

My dog will pace 3 feet from the edge and that's as close as she gets. I have to leash her up and drag her to go on the boat.

I can't think of any cons for the salt canals other than the possible safety issues mentioned which asre the same as most pools. There are a lot of pluses especially warmer in Winter cooler in Fall and Spring.

The fresh canals can draw mosquitos and aligators.
