It's in South Fort Meyers which is practically the suburbs.

Mailing address is South Fort Myers.. Pretty much everyone considers it Estero.

The entire area is one giant suburb... There is no real "downtown" urban living area.

I plan on having my son look to attend for his nursing degree. They get a high rating https://www.registerednursing.org/state/florida/

Tons of other career paths offered.

They just initiated an environmental focus to help the Gulf .

The bottom line is up to you work effort to achieve the best you can be.

If you go, enjoy the other facets of University life (social, sports, arts, community involvement etc.) and best of luck in your educational pursuits!

FGCU is not within the Fort Myers city limits. It is well south of there. It borders on Estero. There are no real traditional suburbs of Fort Myers. Fort Myers itself is quite small compared to the surrounding area and is nowhere near the size of Cape Coral, which is the largest city in Lee County.

4.7 miles from Estero to FGCU
20.8 miles to Ft. Myers downtown to FGCU
All within the growing Lee County area

When I graduated in ‘05 the nursing program lost their accreditation due to failing state cert rates. hopefully they have improved since then.
