I agree. Stay farther north or south of Lee County.

Venice is growing rapidly but it isn't as congested as Fort Myers yet. I live near Sarasota National and the Atlanta Braves recently opened a new stadium very close by. In season that area will become more congested. Still, I dont think Venice or Fort Myers will be anywhere near as congested as WPB area. Pelican Preserve and Sarasota National are both very nice communities. It would be a tough choice to make. Sarasota National would put you much closer to beaches for sure but you'd probably have more restaurant choices in Pelican Preserve.

We looked at55+ and opted not to build there.

However, here are some adverts for 55+ in Ft. Myers area

Before you pull the trigger I say visit as many as you can and , if possible, visit over a few different seasons to see what one meets your needs.

Our 1st visit we looked from Tampa south to Naples and we were like the deer in the headlights.

We came back a few times and our tour zone closed in to south Ft. Myers to Estero and then we found what we liked.

Good luck with your eventual choice!

Let us know what you picked!
