I'm coming through Atlanta on 75 on my way to Florida. Driven through before, but like an idiot stayed on 75 and traffic was a total mess. Looking at the map, it looks like 285 East would help me get around downtown, and get me back on to 75 eventually. Any thoughts?

Good luck. I try and set my travels thru Atlanta after 10:30 at night. Also see what is under construction in that area because it seems something is always under construction.

If on a weekend right now, I'd go straight through on I-75. You have no Braves, or Hawks traffic now. If the Braves win tonight, they'll be in the World Series in Texas. If they lose, they're done for the season.

The Falcons can botch you up near I-75 and I-285 junction, so if this coming Sunday between 11 am and 5pm, you'll see delays, but there's no easy fast way around it. They are only allowing limited fans, so it wont be too bad...you could lose 20 minutes between 11am-1:30pm, then after the game lets out ~ 3hours later.

During the week, if during the day, I'd take 285 around the west side from I-75 South to 285 West/South. I think the sign says Birmingham. You can jump back on I-75 South on the South side of Atlanta, I think that sign says Macon.

Speed traps along I-75 North of Atlanta are common. They start coming into Cartersville, and continue down through Marietta. Keep it w/in 10 mph of speed limit, no matter how fast cars are blowing by you.

^^ some good advice right there

I’d add - use the WAZE navigation app. It’s very good at real time re-routing due to traffic. It uses metadata about active users travels to monitor traffic conditions.
