Hope you get your plumbing figured out... where in CC are you that you’re still on septic???[/quote]

Santa Barbara/ Tropicana area....

Thanks; it’s a great place; just have to be gentle w/ the plumbing for sure. And today some horrific sulphuric rotten eggs smell started emanating from one bathroom, the one closer to the septic tank...

Neighborhood isn’t gated but it’s quiet and low key.. just what we wanted.

Ahhh... so north Cape-ish.... that’s an ok area... close to shopping, older and lots of rentals.

The sulfur smell isn’t your septic.. it’s your well water.

People new to this thread and looking for info about Cape Coral should be careful about getting general advice about an area from people that don't live here and may not have for years. The UEP might not actually make it to the northern sections for another decade or so. The positive part about not being on city services = no water bill and no water boil notices when pipes break in the city system.

As for your well system, I would recommend calling H2O Systems or Water Medic and getting a maintenance plan set up with whoever you choose. We have used the services of both over the years based on whoever was available quickest at first when we had an issue early on as we adapted to being on a well. After upgrading our water treatment system from the big tank thing (that needs to be cleaned and/or treated with a little bleach every so often because they can get nasty) to a smaller, closed system (one scrub down of the standard system was all we needed to spring for the upgraded system haha) we have just been on a plan with H2O Systems and they come for bimonthly service which includes checking the pressure, adding salt, etc. They can also add something to flush your system to help get rid of that smell. Is this your first time on well & septic? You might want to check when your system is set to cycle when you're less likely to use it so you are not drawing straight from the well during the cycling process. For example, ours cycles overnight so we're not going to be showering, running the dishwasher, doing laundry, etc. So make sure the cycling process is set to run on a schedule that works for your family. You can do these things yourself of course and there are videos online that can be very helpful but the available service plan options were very reasonable and just made sense for us to not have to worry about it and pay less than $50 every two months.

Edit/update: make sure your hot water tank heat is turned up slowly (like 5 degree increments) to help get rid of the smell in addition to the hydrogen peroxide being pumped in and that should help resolve the smell if the hydrogen peroxide itself doesn't resolve the issue. That costs about $12 extra to have them flush it through your system.

Thanks all
We got water softener salt tablets and that has at least temporarily cured the problem.

Default bikes on corners

Every day at a couple of intersections, bikes appear: they're chained up. Then they vanish after a few hours. Then different ones appear the next day..

Are they for sale?? There're no signs, other than a lost dog sign that's month's old.

??
