I thought Cape Coral passed an ordinance against short term rentals? There is a house up the street from me that has different people in there almost every weekend. Last weekend it was a large group from Miami playing loud music till around midnight. Wasn't there a 1 month minimum on VRBO's?

1 week minimum on rentals and they have to be registered with the city so the city has a contact person on file for these reasons. When there's a party with loud music, call CCPD non-emergency while it's happening so they can send someone out to shut it down. This will also create a call record for that address. Then each time it happens in the future do the same and get your other neigbbors to call in, too, as they are more likely to prioritize it higher with multiple calls. Then file a complaint on 311 by calling or doing it online through Etrakit using the Noise complaint option. That will trigger a CCPD neighborhood resource officer to make contact with the homeowner. You can also report as Code Enforcement - Miscellaneous about the less than 1 week rental but keep in mind Code Enforcement could be worthless depending on who is assigned to your area. You can remain anonymous for the CCPD and 311 calls if you fear retaliation. Finally, figure out where the house is posted (AirBnB, VRBO, etc.) and report it to that company so they can address it with the host. I think they may refuse to keep listing problem rentals. Have to nip this stuff in the bud early or it will only get worse.
