If going by straight line... 16 miles to Indiana, 28 miles to a maritime border with Michigan (47 miles to a land border), and 38 miles to Wisconsin.

ETA: Oh, most direct road distance as OP asks... 22 to Indiana, 45 to Wisconsin, 73 to Michigan.

There are two of them, in opposite directions, both about 235 miles. Border of Louisiana, and border of Tamaulipas. Unless you count from here to the 12-mile limit in the Gulf of Mexico, which would be about 50 miles. Actually, the closest "foreign soil" to me would be the honorary consulates of Barbados and Ukraine, which are both 105 miles away in Sugar Land, Texas.

If you could fly like a bird Nevada is the closest state being 85 miles. But Verdi Nevada is 150 miles away.
The Oregon state line is about 200 miles away, and Arizona is about 650 miles away.
