Ugh, was at the bars in Chicago until 4am the past two nights.....but I'm confident I will not be testing the 5am close for the bars tonight, haha.

It's always strange in the summer to walk out of the bars at 5am and the sun is rising and people are starting to begin their daily jogs, etc.

New Orleans bars close whenever they want, but most of the rest of the State of Louisiana has last call laws. Shreveport is 2am except in downtown where it's 6 (I believe that's how it works). I think Jefferson Parish (suburbs kinda surrounding New Orleans) has last call laws as well. The baptists in the north and the catholics in the south, democrat v republican areas make their own laws here.

Mmm, yes, a sunrise through drunkeyes...who cares when the bar closes, no?

What I would like to know is what time alcohol sales generally resume in the vast majority of states where alcohol isn't sold without disruption. Where I live, alcohol sales must cease statewide between 2:00am and 8:00am. Alcohol is purchasable for 18 hours of every day. Is this pretty much the average?

This thread...

Drinking is bad, I don't get why anyone would want to drink especially at 4am in some bar

I've done it a few times. In some cities, there is still fun to be had at 4 am...

Unless you are getting there at 2 am, you need to close the deal a little quicker.

In Chicago alcohol hours are from 6am until 5am on the weekends, or 23 hours.

The bars that stay open until 5am normally don't tend to be the set of bars that open up at 6am here in the city. The 6am bars were normally for 3rd shift workers, usually manufacturing. Since only 8% of the metro area jobs are now manufacturing, a lot of those bars have adjusted the hours as their demand has dropped.

On the weekdays the hours are 6am to 4am.

Sunday though alcohol can't be sold until 8am.

Believe it or not, some people may enjoy doing things you don't like!

I don't go out often anymore and even then I've had a couple of nights here where I walked out of a bar at 8am without realizing what time it was. I remember going to a club with my wife and her friend. It was a "pregame" club, meaning it was where people went before going to their main destination for the night. We arrived at about 1AM, walked out at 3:30AM, and there was still a line to get into the place...to pregame!

I can't do that consistently anymore, but we've all been young at some point.
