1. Check out their crime rate!
2. I subscribe to the Philadelphia Daily News, even where I live now, just to remind me of why I left, and the amount of murders....it's disgusting.
3. Their public schools (I was a public school teacher)
4. The trash that is absolutely littering all over the place
5. The dime baggies and crack vials, and bullet casings that I have found even in some of the "better" neighborhoods
6. The prositution that is all over certain neighborhoods, hidden or very prominent
7. the filthy, smelly public transportation (I have taken the subway, el and various buses throughout my life!)
8. over priced housing for very small square footage, without any land (and usually, without it being a single home)
9. the ignorance of sooo many of the people that live there (and this is in all races, not just one)
10. the gangs
I couldn't agree more. I live in the "better" part of Philly (Manayunk/Roxborough). And I'm surrounded by drug houses. The police here are in total denial that drugs exist in this "totally trendy" section of the city. Maybe when we end up with turf and gang wars and drive-by shootings like the rest of Philly, then something will get done about it. And the sad thing is that people pay top dollar for the houses here, plus the high taxes, just to live among this crap! If only they knew what they were buying into.

I would hope dancocal wouldn't call Bridgeport overrated! (his post title)

However Bridgeport is a good choice for a crummy town. I've heard that Rockford, IL has been voted the worst city in America several times.

Keep em' coming! The worst have got to be the towns that actually smell bad. I don't know how people put up with that day in and day out...

So I'm reading this thread, laughing hysterically at all the posts, humming a little tune in my head, and generally minding my own business, when I suddenly come across Cleo's post about my own hometown. What a hit - like a bullet from out of nowhere!! But the worst part?? Every word is true.

Yep, I know, I'm just saying that Bridgeport is not a highly rated city to begin with. Chicago is, for the most part.

dancocal, how long were you in Chicago?

Just curious because I'm in Chicago now and I agree with you on the winters, potholes and the flag waving.
