Do you live in a city or town with yellow plated stoplights? The town I live in now in Indiana only has yellow plated stoplights, and the town I lived in previously in NH had a few yellow plated stoplights. I think they give the city or town more of an old-fashioned and nostalgic flavor. Areas that I have noticed them being the most common are: 1) Smaller towns, 2) The South, 3) The Appalachians, 4) NYC, 5) The Industrial Midwest
I do have an obsession with old-fashioned stoplights in cities and towns...
Post pics of yellow plated stoplights in your area if applicable!
Yellow colored traffic signals. Like in Texas they're usually yellow, but they've started to put up black ones now (at least in Houston). In Louisiana they're green (BR does yellow) so when I see yellow ones it looks funny.
He's talking about the casing that the lights are in.
Yep my little town has yellow lights. It used to be just one light that hung over the center of the intersection, but years ago they changed it to 2 lights facing each direction. Don't know why, seems like a waste of money to me personally. And before you ask, yes, it is the only set of traffic lights in town.
I find it interesting how in my area you can see the immediate transition from Yellow stop lights to Dark Green ones dangling on a wire when you cross the Queens/Nassau border.
If I'm not mistaking there's parts of Long Island that have Yellow stop lights, I'm there all the time but I'm not sure, I really think there are though.
I will try to upload some pics soon of the stoplights here in Jeffersonville, IN. They have some really old-fashioned yellow plated lights with the slanted housing that has to be from the 70s.
I don't like the black plated or green plated stoplights quite as much as the yellow plated ones. I grew up in the KC area and I remember in the 80s they started ripping out many of the yellow plated stoplights and replaced them with black plated stoplights. I have no idea why.
I honestly thought all stoplights were yellow! can someone post photos of non-yellow stop-lights?
I have never seen yellow plated stoplights anywhere in the Pacific Northwest. I don't think I have seen any anywhere I've been actually.
