The Dekalb Housing Authority should be able to provide you with a list of places available in different areas that take Section 8 vouchers. Good luck with that!

There's also a couple of websites that have info - Section 8 Housing Search | Section 8 Houses For Rent | Section 8 Housing List | GoSection8.com and Section 8 Housing in Georgia GA

If you move to South DeKalb, the schools are not diverse.

Perhaps the Gwinnett side of St. Mountain, but not the DeKalb.

Good luck. I used to work in Tucker, and could see Stone Mountain out my office window.

I cannot imagine how hard it would be to find Section VIII housing in that area. If I had my rathers, it'd be somewhere in Gwinnett County where the schools are truly outstanding. Dekalb schools are simply unacceptable.

For the Stone Mountain area—My guess is that smokerise elm should still be good (not sure if it is zoned stone mountain or tucker), and I know folks who have been happy with Tucker schools K-12. I think that Parkview HS in Gwinnett is very good, but I am not sure if Shiloh is (also Gwinnett).

Shiloh High School can be good if a family has limited income (lower-middle income or less) and is coming from a disadvantaged economic background. But families with higher incomes may look to buy into areas with higher-rated schools.

I realize your post is directed at the OP, but I’d like to respond by advising you to make sure you have employment secured & know the area you will be working in prior to moving. You will also want to plan a trip to scout the area for suitable living accommodations. I wouldn’t move to the Atlanta area without a car.

I’ve seen people move here without a plan believing Atlanta was a utopia of jobs & affordability then reality hits them with the fact there’s fierce competition for most of the decent paying jobs and the cost of living is much higher than expected.
