I am not at all surprised that Atlanta is listed, but Savannah surely is a surprise. It was the fastest growing tech workforce, with a 217% increase in tech employment.

I must admit that I am a little surprised that Savannah is listed as one of the top 20 tech metros in the South.

But it probably shouldn’t be all that surprising that Savannah has popped up on this list given the great amount of success that Savannah has experienced being the site of one of the largest and explosively fastest growing seaports on the planet.

Another interesting thing that stuck out on the list of top 20 tech metros in the South is that, because they are officially classified as such by the U.S. Census Bureau, the very close nearby communities of Raleigh, North Carolina and Durham, North Carolina are listed as two separate metropolitan areas when in reality and in practice they effectively are part of the same metropolitan area/region (the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill/Cary-anchored North Carolina Research Triangle region).

Tech does have broad meaning. "Tech" could be high in Savannah due to a number of non conventional thought of tech... maybe logistics due to the port etc.

Yeah, that does seem to be a real head scratcher that seems to potentially call into question the credibility of this entire study.

Off topic but I always enjoy reading your posts. You have a deep knowledge of Georgia and metro Atlanta in particular. Much appreciated
