With Greenville being the first second tier city in the south to get an REI which second tier City in Georgia should get one. I personally think Augusta and Savannah should already have one but I wonder why they dont?

Greensboro has one already and Asheville's opens this fall. Aren't those second-tier cities? I'm going to say Savannah and Disgusta. They don't have one yet because the store hasn't expanded into their market yet. I'm suprised one wasn't included in the new lifestyle portion at Augusta Mall.

Definately Savannah.. because of its coastal location and abundance of watersports and fishing. Does Chattanooga already have an REI?? If not, it should be the next city in the region to get one.

I'm not sure but I don't think chattanooga has a REI. But pretty much the same as with cheesecake factory. Augusta has the population, and savannah has the tourist. Then columbus and macon would be next.

Never understood in my 4 years in Augusta why there is so much population there and not Savannah. Savannah is by far the better city to live in. REI needs to be in Savannah with all of the outdoorsmen that live there. Everyone I know down there is a fisherman and half are hunters. I love REI and NEED one for when I move to Savannah in 6 weeks!!!!

REI, like Cheesecake Factory, are higher end national chain stores. Like Glitzy McDonald's. There's nothing special about these places.

Aside from Bass Pro Shops, Savannah also has Halfmoon Outfitters.

Columbus has Kinnicuns which is a lot like REI. Kinnicuns has stores in Auburn, Tuscaloosa, Athens, Montgomery, and Oxford, Miss. Columbus also just landed Outdoor World which is based in Dawsonville in North Georgia. Just opened in downtown Columbus for the whitewater rafting expansion. Columbus could easily support an REI due to the large amount of outdoor activities here.

I wouldn't quite say that kinnucans is a lot like REI..it's more of an outdoor apparel than outdoor equipment. Outdoor World is good but, as you said, I think columbus could definitely support an REI. Columbus is growing and with Ft. Benning so close, it's more than likely than some army mates would enjoy a fantastic outdoor equipment supplier like REI. I've been an REI member for several years now, (usually visit the Kennesaw, GA location) and it must be the best $25 I've ever spent. Columbus would love REI.

I agree, REI should come to the Augusta Mall. Ever since renovations was made, the Augusta Mall looks nicer.
