Adjunct professors being underpaid, overworked and given no benefits has been going on for a very long time.
I knew a couple of adjuncts WAY BACK in 1979 who worked for 2 colleges being treated like serfs.
That is why I dropped out of my graduate fine arts program a couple years later. Looked around at my fellow students and saw very talented people and knew there were not enough jobs for all of us Boomers to teach at college level.
Universities are still doing it because...they can.
