Well I was first ,all for the new leaf bins. Since I use to stick leaves in one of the trash bins, which the city hauled off with no questions, untill the last time and they put a "naughty" letter on top of the bin telling me what items were not allowed...so I thought great, now I'll have an official bin to dump leaves in... Until I just read they now, want u to buy a special type of bag to put the yard waste in... I'm almost tempted at this point to just be the person in the neighborhood with a yard full of leaves , but I won't be since I know it kills the grass.. but it's almost tempting! I can however picture lots of residents just using a leaf blower to blow into the sts, and us having streets full of leave piles since the city is not longer gonna vacume up ..

Yeah I'm not happy about the new system either. I could probably fill up 3 carts a week in the fall with all of the leaves on my property. It makes for a lot more work on the homeowner's part to get the leaves into the cart. I bet you'll see private services pop up. I would consider letting the leaves pile up until the trees are 75% bare, then paying someone to clear them all out and remove them, if I had that option.

I don't have any trees in my yard anymore so I havent raked in a decade. The only leaves I have are just the ones that blow over from my backyard neighbors trees, and at the end of fall, I just run them over with the lawn mower mulcher. When I did rake leaves, no way would one or two carts be enough unless I raked just part of the yard every week. Everyone on my block would bag their leaves instead of raking them to the street. It will be interesting to see how they do it this fall.

I received mine yesterday too and from what I read on the attached pamplet, it does appear that yard waste can go right into the bin without being in a bag., so I'm a lot happier!
