And I wonder what is being done by our elected officials to help this situation?

As we all know by now, the Anderson area has a VERY large employer on the way https://www.city-data.com/forum/green...on-county.html, many Anderson-area employers are experiencing increased orders/business (Bosch recently held a job fair) and Anderson itself is still growing. As part of the overall Upstate, with lots of people commuting from one city in the Upstate to another for work, I'd think the effects of any double-dip in Anderson would be mitigated a good bit versus some other areas on that list.

Some areas are seeing improvement; some are getting worse. I think the entire country is in danger of a double dip recession. The Christmas shopping season (or lack thereof) will be a big indicator of where we are headed.

We all see the news from other SC counties that are experiencing more rapid economic growth than Anderson County, and it does not make sense to me considering the many attractive qualities that Anderson County has in it's favor. Also the SC Dept of Employment and Workforce just released the unemployment numbers for Anderson: 11.5%, up from the previous month when it was 11.3%. It does put Anderson County in the middle of the pack of counties in SC, but considering the great qualities we have shouldn't there be even more positive economic development news announced on a frequent basis for Anderson County?
