Hi -

We are planning a move from Connecticut to Spartansburg, SC for my job and are looking for good Indian Community as well as good Middle schools . My office would be in Spartanburg area.
My google search has suggested Greenville area has good Indian community but I don't drive (yet) so commute could be a problem.
Do we have any shuttle service between Greenville / Spartanburg? How is the public transport?
Also I have a 11 year old, so school district is very important to us.

Another point is safety, how safe is Spartanburg or Greenville for young families?
Can someone please suggest some good Indian communities based on my needs near this area? Much appreciated.

Spartanburg has a large Indian community. My mother lives in a new neighborhood Kensington Creek on the westside of Spartanburg. On her street alone there are four indian families. The Middle Schools in District six on the westside are Dawkins, Gable, and Fairforest. The high school is Dorman High School. Spartanburg is very safe! We do have public transportation (Sparta. city bus). U.S. News and World Report just ranked Spartanburg the #1 Best City to live in S.C. and The #24 Best City to live in in the U.S. You will enjoy living in Spartanburg and the Upstate of S.C.

You might want to contact this group (they also have a Facebook page):

The Greenville bus system is called Greenlink, and the Spartanburg system is called Sparta:

The commute between Greenville and Spartanburg is via I-85 and I-385, and that's a commute I wouldn't want to make every day. There are a lot of bad drivers in the upstate and accidents at rush hour on those roads are frequent.

Regarding safety: I don't know Spartanburg, but a high percentage of the crime in Greenville happens west and south of the downtown area. My recommendation is to look at the crime statistics here on the city pages for your current community with Greenville and Spartanburg and see how they compare. Most violence that happens here is drug related, and between people who know each other.

Greeting precious People of India here in Greenville SC. This is Catholicos Mar Demetrius I, the head of the Orthodox Church of Christ . My apostolic succession stems from Geevarghese Gregorios of Parumala and St. Alvarez of Goa. Also Mar Thoma I. I would love to start a St. Thomas Christian Church here in Greenville, for the Indian people. We have the facilities already in place. Thebocscinternational.com
The ultimate goal would be to train up a clergyman here of Indian descent as deacon and then presbyter and leave him as pastor of the Church. I already have a bishop and about 20 churches in India or maybe I could bring a clergyman here for the church.
